So I realize that animating, like drawing, requires constant practice. And although I've been animating for years, I rarely have the motivation to finish anything because there's no idea behind a lot of my attempts. The only things I've ever finished had clear beginning-to-end ideas behind them. Theres a lot of really good animation that I've done on projects that'll never see the light of day, simply because the ideas behind them are very half baked. Recently I entered a contest by submitting an animation, and while I was animating I realized how well things can go if I just had more thought behind them. (and as i figured out, more time as well). I ended up rushing the project, so there's some obvious shoddyness that blares through on some parts. But the rest of the animation however, is pretty simple and nice.
So. Even though I'm not Mr. Pro-Animator, I really believe I'm good enough to do little "diddies" for small cash. I'm thinking about making small animations for people for a small price. How would you pay? By the hours I work? By the frames in the animation? By the time/duration of the animation in seconds or minutes? Would payments like these work in conjunction with the complexity of the animation? Say for instance, something with less actual framework would be cheaper than something that had a lot of frames and smoother motion?
I'd like to hear what people think about this, I figure if I get enough responses, I'll post up all my unfinished works into a big compilation to try attracting some business.
Tell me what you think!
